Obituary For George "Butch" Kaleel

George “Butch” Kaleel, age 83, of Raleigh, NC, passed away and went home to be with Jesus on January 27, 2025. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Liz Cialone; his parents, George Kaleel Sr. and Mary McNeil; and his brother, Joey Kaleel.

George is survived by his loving wife of nearly 56 years, Faye; four children: Michael (Pat), Greg (Tammy), Pam (Bob) and Kristin (Phillip), seven grandchildren: Allen (fiancé Kelsey), Renee (Matt), Alexander (Silvia), Kaleel, Brianna, Blake, and Finley along with two great-grandchildren: Allegra and Daisy, who he was so happy to see born this past year. He is also survived by two brothers, two sisters, and numerous nephews and nieces.

A U.S. Air Force veteran and private pilot with several hundred flight hours logged in his early years, George was always proud to have served his country. He was Owner/Operator of Oak Park Electronics alongside his brother for almost 40 years of business. Known for his love of practical jokes and great sense of humor, he was an avid golfer, loved playing poker with his longtime friends and was a Ham Radio Operator for most of his life making connections all over the world. George had a great love for Walt Disney World, particularly his favorite attraction, Country Bear Jamboree. George’s favorite pastime, however, was watching his grandchildren participate in various activities and sports, always there cheering from the sidelines. He was loved deeply and will be missed dearly.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, starting at 1:00 PM, with the funeral service immediately following at 1:30 PM at Southbridge Fellowship Church, 12621 Strickland Rd, Raleigh, NC where he had been faithfully attending church for the past several years. Burial with military honors will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh.

Having known the Kaleel family for many years through church and by being friends w/ his daughter, Pam, I can honestly say Mr. Kaleel was a Godly & staunch Patriarch over his large family. He & Mrs. Kaleel had a strong marriage and together they raised wonderful children who grew into amazing adults. Though our world is saddened by the loss of such an outstanding gentleman, all of Heaven is rejoicing by having him home. May God's Holy Spirit bring comfort and healing to the Kaleel family. And may they be confident in knowing they shall see him again someday. "The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms." ~ Deuteronomy 33:27a ~
