Obituary For Frances Ann Harrison Tarleton
Frances Ann Harrison Tarleton, 76, of Durham, died from multiple complications caused by Amyloidosis at Duke University Hospital on August 25, 2019.
Frances was born on January 22, 1943 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina to James Thomas Harrison and Bonnie Millard Harrison Strickland. She attended Rocky Mount Senior High, graduating 1961. Frances mainly worked in retail;previously managing a Hallmark and a formal wear store.
Frances was an avid doll maker from childhood, selling hand-made cloth dolls her entire adult life. Her creations were featured in newspapers in her former homes of Tarboro and Rocky Mount, as well as television shows broadcast in eastern North Carolina. She loved cats, horses and farms which reminded her of her childhood. She was a Christian and loved her family more than anything.
Frances was preceded in death by her father James Harrison and her step-father Carvie Everett Strickland. She is survived by her mother, Bonnie; her sons, James Blair Tarleton (Amy Metcalf Tarleton) and Stephen Matthew Tarleton (Marissa Bishop Tarleton); her grandchildren by Stephen, Owen Bishop Tarleton, Charlotte Dee Tarleton; her sisters, Jane Harrison Brown and Cathy Harrison Savage.
A Memorial Service will be held at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27615 on Friday, August 30, 2019 at eleven o'clock in the morning.
