On the 19th day, September 2019, Fanny Kaufman peacefully passed away in Youngsville, North Carolina, at the age of 91.

Fanny was born on May 5, 1928, in Marseille, France, to Johannes and Miriam Kara-Oglanian. She grew up in Paris, France with her brothers, Leon, Maurice, Charles and her sister, Fortunee. There she met and married her husband Jack before emigrating to the U.S. After the war, Fanny served as a seamstress at the Chanel fashion house in Paris. In 1952, she married Jack Kaufman and moved to the US in 1954 to join her sister, Fortunee Lavigne, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She raised three children there and also was a nanny to several families in the area. She also worked for a friend in a bridal boutique, Pronuptia, selling French wedding dresses to the brides of Boston.

Fanny is survived by her sons, Michael (Bonnie) Kaufman of Chicago, IL, Carl (Martha Angove) Kaufman of San Francisco, CA; and her daughter, Lisa (Oliver) Hellwig of Rolesville, NC; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
