Dr. Francis Gregory (Greg) Brusino passed away Tuesday morning, August 18, 2015 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. He was 58 years old. Greg was born at the U.S. Army Hospital in Augsburg, West Germany, on January 8, 1957 to Francis Bernard Brusino, Jr. (deceased) and June Faison Brusino.
Greg was raised and attended school in Niagara Falls, NY. He was a dedicated student and a talented athlete at Niagara-Wheatfield High School. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Rochester in New York in 1979. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine in 1983 from the State University of New York at Buffalo. After graduating from medical school, Greg completed a three-year residency in Anesthesiology and a one-year fellowship in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesiology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. Greg worked as a cardiac anesthesiologist for twelve years in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, VA. He moved to Raleigh, NC in 2002 and continued to practice medicine with American Anesthesiology of NC. He has also served as Director of Anesthesia at Blue Ridge Surgical Center for the past seven years.
Greg was a man of faith who loved his family, friends, and profession. He found great joy in traveling (especially to Mediterranean Europe and the Caribbean), watching professional ice hockey, planting and caring for trees, keeping up to date with the newest computer technology, and learning new things. Greg was an exceptional father, a devoted husband, and a cherished son. He touched countless lives and will be profoundly missed by all those who loved him.
