  My heartfelt condolences to the Brusino family. Greg was a great and true friend from virtually the day we met at Colonial Village to when we graduated from Niagara Wheatfield in 1975. Although our paths went different ways in the years that followed, l will always cherish the memories of riding our bikes together, playing football and just sitting on the picnic table in the backyard having a good conversation. Those times hold a special place in my heart and I am deeply saddened that they ended all too soon. Greg will be truly missed but always remembered, respected and loved. Gary Keith

  I am blessed to say that I have known Dr. Brusino for about nine years now. I am more than lucky to have met him along with the rest of the wonderful Brusino family. Dr. Brusino was and always will be an inspiration in my life. He is one of the smartest and hardest working people I have ever met. From eighth grade up until my senior year in college, he would always want to know how I was doing. I always looked forward to filling him with what was going on with my life because I knew he cared about me. I am deeply saddened now that he is gone, but I know he will always be there for his family and even for me.   It was truly our honor to have known Greg. We agree with all the wonderful remembrances friends have expressed here. He was very smart. He was extremely modest. Hidden behind a somewhat serious demeanor, he had a great sense of humor. Most of all, he was a family man. He loved his sweet Jenny, his children, his mom and brothers. He was a devoted dad, encouraging his children to be true to themselves and to pursue their dreams. He is gone too soon, leaving us while helping his beloved son start a new chapter, a new beginning, a step into his future.   Dr. Brusino was my anaesthesiologist for 2 surgeries at BRSC and he took time beforehand to meet with me when he was told we were both from Niagara Falls. He always treated everyone in the OR with respect and that as a team we delivered the best care for our patients. I am truly sorry for his passing.   Greg and I grew up together. He was a year older and watched over me when we were kids. As next-door neighbors we did just about everything together. Greg was always very smart and had great wisdom, even at a young age. We would ride bikes everywhere and all the time. Wherever we ended up at lunch-time is where we ate. I remember the great sandwiches Mrs. B would make us. We would sit on the porch or behind the house on a picnic table and have these great sandwiches which she cut on an angle - how fancy! Then we would be off again to another adventure, scouting the woods, off to Big Rock or maybe a football game with Kevin, Paul, and Steve and anyone else we could scare up. When it was dinnertime, my parents would ring the bell and everyone would tell me it was time to go home. After supper we might meet at Vals or Colleens house and play hide and seek into the night and through several yards. They were great times and it was a wonderful way to grow up. When we got older, I married my high school sweetheart and Greg was my Best Man. I remember going over to the Brusinos a couple hours before the ceremony and his mom brought out the champaigne! That was a great surprise and helped me through the butterflies. We had many great times and wonderful adventures. Throughout everything we did, skiing, cycling, hiking, we managed to do great things and push ourselves, growing in so many ways. It was a pleasure and an honor knowing the boy and young man and hearing of his great success as a doctor, as a man. Greg was always a good example and a good man. I am thankful to have known and grown with Greg, and cherish the many great adventures we had.

  I worked with Dr. Brusino for many years at Blue Ridge surgery center. I could go on and on about his kindness towards myself and many others. Everyday he not only smiled and said "good morning", but he took time out to talk. He truly cared about people and was an excellent Anesthesiologist. I will never forget how his calm demeanor and kind speech helped soothe many patients before their surgery. He will be sorely missed everyday, but my memories of him will never fade. I look forward to when the promise made at Rev. 21:4 will be a reality.

  Our family is still in shock at the sudden passing of Greg. When I read Dr. Raja's tribute I thought it so beautifully described the Greg we knew and loved -- caring, intelligent, good listener, humble. He valued his privacy and respected the privacy of others. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2013. After our family Christmas dinner he hesitantly pulled me aside and ASKED if he could offer some advice. I was expecting a medical description of what I could expect during treatment. Instead he told me, "it is your body....you are the customer....the doctors work for you." He said, "do not be intimidated....no question is too small or insignificant." He never questioned me, but he was ALWAYS available to me and my family to answer our questions or interpret test results, etc. He was brilliant and such a professional. Jenny is my only sibling and the best sister and friend anyone could ever hope to have. My husband, David, is an only child. Greg was not just our brother-in-law -- he was our brother!! David is certainly going to miss their discussions about the financial market, politics, world events, and, of course, hockey. Greg, you will truly be missed by our family. We lost you way too soon.   Dear Brusino family, As his neighbor growing up and his teacher in his teens, I am blessed to know Greg. All the children in our neighborhood were close and spent much time together. Greg was very much another brother in our household. As I had entered graduate school in Utah, Greg and I took a road trip west. I dropped off Greg in Denver to visit Lee. I remember stopping in Indiana to see the campus at Notre Dame and experience for the first time "Touchdown Jesus." Early in our marriage, Denise, my wife, had two miscarriages. The last day of school before Christmas vacation, Greg and I drove the snowy roads south of Buffalo to pick up a Siberian Husky puppy to comfort Denise and me. He held that pup as we slid our way home. When I taught English 11 to him, we decided to focus on independent studies. His work on the writing of Camus was terrific. I cannot well express my sadness. Yet, I am always hopeful for the reuniting of all because of the atonement and sacrifice of a loving Savior, Jesus Christ. Please, give my love to his mom, Mrs. June Brusino.   My heart is saddened by the passing of this man. I pray for comfort for his family and dearest friends. Dr. Brusino, as I have always addressed him, always conducted himself mannerly and respectfully whether speaking to patients or his coworkers. He would always make time to speak to me regardless of how busy his day was. I have worked along side him at WakeMed for many years, primarily as an nurse in cardiac surgery. He always seemed to have an inner calmness and peace no matter what the difficulties of the day presented. On two occasions while I was teaching incoming nurses about heart surgery, Dr. Brusino approached my trainees and told them what a privilege it was to have me teaching them. I never had the pleasure to know him outside of work, but my heart is assured he continued to speak kindly and respectfully to others. May his memory never fade.

  Greg was one of the most compassionate and humble people I have ever met. I was proud to have him as a mentor, a colleague, and friend. He was incredibly smart and accomplished...and yet he always made you feel as if you were the most important person in the world to him. He listened carefully, he was always learning. When my child was born he gave me some advice: "we are selfish most of our lives with education and fulfilling our dreams...but when you finally become a husband, and a father, you can never be selfish again...you have to be selfless". And that's the kind of man Greg was. Someone who valued his family...whether at home, or work...we were all family for Greg and he loved us, and we will all miss him. May God give him peace, accept his good deeds, and forgive any sins.
