Obituary For Elizabeth Ann Mullaney
Elizabeth Ann Mullaney - Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Elizabeth Mullaney passed away peacefully in her home on Monday January 29th, 2024 surrounded by her husband and four children. In December she and David celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and the birth of their first great grandchild.
Betty was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in St. Albans Queens and Manhattan. She graduated from St. Michael's Academy in Manhattan, and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Notre Dame College, Staten Island, NY. She met her husband David at a high school dance at age 16.
Betty always managed to balance a successful working career in education with her passion for volunteering while raising her 4 children and supporting her spouse. Among the many places she volunteered her time and caring are Oak City Cares, Open Door Ministries, Prison Ministry, Tent Ministry, St. Vincent de Paul, and The Jones River Historical Society in Kingston MA.
Betty will be remembered by all as a selfless and giving person who practiced works of mercy, for her positive outlook on life, and her sheer goodness. She treated every person she met with dignity and respect. She was an avid reader, hostess extraordinaire, fantastic cook, a lover of animals -especially Molly, and she loved to travel. Betty gave the best advice, was a great listener, and she remembered everything! She had a great talent for organizing people, problem solving, and cosmic organizing.
Betty is survived by her husband David and four children Thomas (Dee), Daniel (Darcey), Stephen (Christine) and Elizabeth (Patrick), grandchildren Kathryn, Patrick, and Maria, and great grandchild Saoirse.
A Mass will be held at the chapel at Saint Francis of Assisi in Raleigh, North Carolina on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 12:30 PM. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Oak City Cares or the Door Ministry of Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral.
