We first met Ed Holmes at Cuttington University in Liberia when we were Peace Corps Volunteers there in the mid 1970s. Over the years we kept up with him through Friends of Liberia. Ed helped FOL with a grant through the International Foundation We last saw him when he came back to Cuttington in< I believe, 2005. His legacy at Cuttington is enormous, and he will be remembered in Liberia for a long, long time. Ed generously gave of himself to help others. There can be no better legacy. Lyn and Jim Gray (still living and working in Liberia.)

Ed was the very first friend Larry and I met when we moved into Atria, across the hall from Ed and Shirley. He was a wonderful friend to Larry and would watch soccer with him anytime there was a game on TV. He will be missed by many. Sue Traub

Rest In Peace Dr. Holmes. You touched the lives of so many and the impact youve had will extend beyond your passing from this world. I will miss the updates my Dad would joyfully share with me after your conversations. Your vitality amazed me!

My father, the late Rev. Fr. Emmanuel W Johnson always spoke so highly of Dean Holmes as being his right hand man on Cuttington University College and as being in charge of overseeing the building of the Rural Development institute (RDI). As a child, I remember him flying through CUC in his SUV. We would always say" the pilot is coming get out of the way". This was indeed a life well spent. May your soul rest in perfect peace, Dean Holmes.

Ed was like a family to us at the Rural Development Institute, which he headed as director. Ed was never too busy to listen and nothing was too little or big for him to undertake. We will surely miss him.
