Obituary For Doris Pauline Noble

Doris Pauline Noble, 71, of Raleigh, NC passed away on 14 October 2024 at Rex Hospital after several months of illness resulting from complications derived from non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. She was born in Lenoir County on 8 April 1953, daughter of the late Clifton Noble and Dora Pauline Fitts Noble.

She went to school in Jones County, NC and received an associate degree in business at Lenoir Community College. She worked with the Morehead City Chamber of Commerce for several years before helping her former husband run food and ice cream concessions at various festivals, fairs, and fine shows throughout the southeastern US for several years. She collected many artisanal works as they traveled from show to show. For many years until her recent hospitalization, she was a private care giver.

Her greatest passion in life was her shag community of friends and her love of the dance. To say that Doris knew everybody was certainly an understatement, and to know her was to love her. Doris knew about everybody’s family members, their kids, and grandkids and always wanted to know how each one was doing when she spoke with that friend. Many have said “Doris’s smile would light up a room the second she steps into it”, “after meeting her for just a short time that they felt like they had known her all their life”, but all agree that she was the kindest, sweetest, and most giving person who never met a stranger. Some of her closest circle of friends goes back half a century.

Doris was a part of a group of ladies known as the Lunch Bunch. She was a big part of the group and always looked forward to the monthly lunches and the crazy birthday lunches, not only for herself, but as each one’s birthday rolled thru the group.

Doris loved to dance and never missed a chance to “work’ a crowd of friends and enjoy a dance or four. She was a member of the Capital Area Shag Club. Doris had an extensive network of close friends, who have given her great support during her period of illness.

She is survived by her older brother Robert, nieces and nephews Suzanne Davis, Josh and Sam Sutton and Michele, Martin and Sofia Noble. Preceding her were her sisters Eunice Davis and Rachel Sutton, brother Barry Noble and nieces Mellissa and Heather Davis. She is also survived by many close relationships from her former marriage and an unmeasured number of dear loving friends.

A celebration of life service will be held in the chapel at Renaissance Funeral Home at 7615 Six Forks Rd in Raleigh at 1:00 pm on Saturday, 26 October 2024. The outpouring of love and fond remembrances from family and friends is much appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Hall of Fame Foundation, P O Box 4070, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29597 in Doris’s memory.
