Dolores Mary (nee O’Neill) Herrel, of Raleigh, North Carolina, beloved wife and mother, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at The Oaks of Mayview, after a ten year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born in Jackson Heights, Queens on March 25, 1939, daughter of the late Francis and Mildred O’Neill.

Dolores attended St. Gabriel’s Catholic School, graduating from Newtown High School in Queens, N.Y. She was an Executive Secretary for Chase Bank in Manhattan, New York. Dolores married Fredric Herrel on October 25, 1959, they would’ve celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this year. They had two sons Brian and Christopher. Dolores and Fred raised their family in Hicksville and Farmingdale, New York. They retired to Doylestown, Pennsylvania and Raleigh, NC.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Mildred O’Neill. She is survived by her husband, Fred; their two sons, Brian (Sheri) of Mars, PA and Christopher (Maria) of Broadview Heights, Ohio; and her five grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsay, Jacob, Christopher and Julia. Dolores is also survived by her sister, Carole Ingram of Farmingdale, N.Y., nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held in July at St. James Catholic Church in Seaford, New York, details TBD. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dolores’ memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org
