Dolores Julia Timko died peacefully on August 13, 2023, at the age of 94 in Raleigh, NC. Born on November 2, 1928 in Camden, NJ, Julie was the only child of Henry and Ann Varallo. Julie was pursuing her Master’s degree in education at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA when she met the love of her life, Stephen Timko. Julie and Stephen Timko were a devoted couple for 70 years, ending only with Stephen’s death in November 2022.

Before her children arrived, Julie was a first-grade teacher at Fell Elementary School in Philadelphia. She became a full-time homemaker, and moved to Raleigh in 1972, as Stephen Timko advanced his business career. Julie was a devoted wife and mother, loyal friend, and wonderful neighbor on Staley Court. She was an excellent cook, and Julie’s marvelous holiday treats, which she distributed generously, were eagerly anticipated by friends and neighbors. She even won a Christmas cookie contest at The Cardinal a few months before her death. Julie was a devout Catholic and active participant at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Julie is survived by her daughters Andrea Timko Weiswasser of Washington, DC, Stephanie Timko Hilton of Rocky Mount, NC, and Patricia Timko Sinclair and husband, Bill, of Manhattan Beach, CA. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Anne Weiswasser, Emily Weiswasser, Teresa Hilton Cox and husband Kyle, Katie Sinclair and Stephen Sinclair. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Stephen Timko, and son-in-law, Michael R. Hilton.

The family thanks the staff at The Cardinal at North Hills and Transitions Life Care, and her caregivers, especially Vonda, Afsaneh, and Fatou, for their exceptional care and kindness.

A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2718 Overbrook Drive, Raleigh, NC, on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 11 AM. Burial will follow immediately at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC.
