Dolores Sleva of Raleigh passed away Friday morning, October 27th, 2017 at the age of 83.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 3rd from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at Saint Raphael the Archangel Church. The funeral will take place at Saint Raphael the Archangel Church Friday, November 3rd at 12 noon, with interment afterwards at the church columbarium.

A native of Wilkes-Barre, PA, Dolores was the daughter of the late John Strobel and Julia Przybyla Strobel. A 1952 graduate of Coughlin High School, she received several awards for singing and dancing with military veterans at a Pennsylvania VA hospital. Dolores was also a singer in numerous vaudeville performances at that time, during which she was employed as a seamstress. She served as a Cub Scout den mother for two years and served as president of the Saint Raphael the Archangel Church council in the 1960’s. She was, moreover, an active participant for over ten years in the Saint Raphael Healthcare Ministry. She worked as a laboratory clerk at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, from which she retired in 1991. Dolores was kind, courteous and friendly, with a ready smile on her face; no one was a stranger. She enjoyed cooking such Polish foods as pierogi, golabki, and kielbasa.

Dolores is survived by her husband, Stanley Sleva; son Edward of Baltimore, MD; daughter Elaine of Warrington, PA; and son Michael of Seal Beach, CA.
