Remembering the many times we spent together, playing golf at Hengistbury head, fishing at Whitstable, playing cards at Christmas, watching Brentford boxing day, playing mastermind, visit in 1987 to North Carolina with mum, dad and Wendy, then later with Bettina and Jeremy, and many, many more happy memories. Over the last few days, I have had numerous memories flood my thoughts about my dads life and his impact on all those who had met him. Dad truly enjoyed life and although he experienced many hardships and challenges, he would always say just smile. Of course, you cant speak about my dad without mentioning my Mum and his beloved wife, Claire, who passed away almost 6 years ago. They had a very special life together and my parents meant a world to many of us. Lets remember Dad or Derek, who was evacuated out of London during the bombings, served as a Gordon Highlander, and then spent 30 years of his life working at IBM and providing for his family. He enjoyed being outside in his garden and listening to the birds while enjoying the warmth of the sun. He was a wonderful Husband, Brother, Dad and Grandad and I told him so just before he passed. Thank you for all the support during these difficult years and Im sure Dad and Mum are looking down on us and smiling.

Dad as I look back over time I find myself wondering ...... Did I remember to thank you enough For all you have done for me? For all the times you were by my side To help and support me..... To celebrate my successes To understand my problems And to accept my defeats? Or for teaching me by your example The value of hard work, good judgement, Courage and integrity? I wonder if I ever thanked you For the sacrifices you made. To let me have the very best? And for the simple things Like laughter, smiles and the times we shared? If I have forgotten to show my Gratitude enough for all the things you did, I'm thanking you now. And I am hoping you knew all along, How much you meant to me. Love you so much Dad Nina
