Obituary For Deborah Elayne Luckie

On October 14, 2014, Deborah Elayne Parker went to be with her Lord. She was a mother of three, grandmother of six, sister, daughter, aunt, niece, friend, confidant, neighbor, and child of God. Her memory lives in the laughter of those whose honor it was to know and love her. Her children and grandchildren have inherited her musicality, her sense of humor, and her generosity of spirit.

Deborah’s family would like to express our sincere gratitude to her extended family… those who wove themselves into the tapestry of her life. Those whose love and service to Debbie sustained and supported her, particularly in the latter years of her life.

A memorial service in honor of our mother will be held at Open Door Church (9801 Durant Rd, Raleigh, NC) at 7:00pm on Friday, October 17th. We cannot thank you enough for the prayers and notes of encouragement as we walk this road.

It was Deborah’s wish that in lieu of flowers, donations in Deborah Luckie’s name can be made to one of the following organizations that meant so much to her. Checks and online donations can be sent to:

The North American Church Planting Foundation (NACPF) (Mom spent many hours in prayer and encouragement of this organization in their mission to support church-planting and the families undertaking this work.) 9801 Durant Road Raleigh, NC 27614 919.847.6969 http://northamericanchurchplantingfoundation.org/donate/

Transitions Life Care (The hospice organization that not only provided all of Mom’s medical care free of charge, but were an invaluable support for Angela and Kim in the waning days and hours.) 250 Hospice Circle Raleigh, NC 27607 919.828.0890 http://transitionslifecare.org/

SMILE BECAUSE SHE LIVED

You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she lived, You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back, or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see her, or you can be full of the love that you shared, You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her and only that she is gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn back, or you can do what she would want: Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
