David Taylor Ballenger, 76, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loved ones on December 21, 2022.

The funeral service will be conducted at Trinity Baptist Church on Six Forks Road in Raleigh, North Carolina on Tuesday, January 3, at 2:00 PM. The visitation will be held prior to the service at Trinity at 1:00 PM.

David was born and raised in Hickory Tavern, South Carolina, where he attended area schools, including Hickory Tavern High School. Upon graduation, David worked odd jobs, putting himself through college at Clemson University, where he obtained his undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Ceramic Engineering.

It was during his college years that he met the love of his life, Frances “Angie” Witt, and the couple was soon married in August, 1970. The two were inseparable from that point forward, with Angie even accompanying David to Korea where he was stationed as a lieutenant in the United States Army.

Upon returning to the States and spending the formative years of their marriage in Greenville, South Carolina, they finally settled in Raleigh, North Carolina, and remained happily married for 52 years (despite their fierce Clemson/University of South Carolina rivalry).

David is survived by his dear wife, Angie; devoted sons, Daniel and Travis; loving daughters-in-law, Liz and Allison; older brother, Bobby; and his honorary Circlewood Court grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother, Iris Knight Ballenger, and his father, William Ballenger.
