Obituary For David Ray Whitt
It is with a heavy heart that the family of David Ray Whitt, 72, of Gaithersburg, MD and Raleigh, NC, announce that David unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, February 2nd, 2023. While he spent much of his adult life battling different health ailments, he passed quickly, peacefully, and without pain.
David was born in Danville, VA to Margaret and Calvin Whitt. David began his career at Dan River High School, had a brief layover at Danville Community College, and finally landed at Virginia Tech, where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering. David spent the last years of his life going on adventures with his loving wife and daughters, trying new dark beers with ice, and taking naps with his grand pups.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Anne Whitt; daughters, Angela Cooley (Drew Cooley) and Emily Whitt; mother, Margaret Whitt; sister, Brenda Thompson (Keith Thompson); two brothers, Eugene Whitt (Nancy Whitt) and Mike Whitt (Tammy Whitt), along with his extended family.
At David’s request, there will be no funeral service; however, the family will receive friends from 2PM to 4PM on Friday, February 10th, 2023 at Renaissance Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the America Heart Association or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

David was my second cousin, I remember summers spent climbing apple trees in the orchard between their house and my great grandmother's house when I was little. It's been a long time since I last saw him. I'm sorry for his family and the loss they endured.

Very very sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Whitt. I got to know him indirectly from Emily as we worked and currently play softball together. I pray just for the ability to cope and for understanding. Although no one likes hearing this fact during time of bereavement, Mr. Whitt is free from any health ailments and truly at peace resting in the Glory of our Heavenly Father. Continued thoughts and prayers are with the Whitt Family and Friends during this time. -Anthony Liles
