David Nelson Jones passed away on March 14, 2024 at the age of 84.

David had many diverse interests. He loved sports and cheered for the Yankees, the Giants, and NC State whose recent victory he would have relished. David was a family man who enjoyed teasing his siblings, especially Judy, and later his children and grandchildren as well. He was also sentimental; his home filled with family photos and keepsakes. And he kept track of his loved ones covertly through his wife’s Facebook account.

David was an avid history buff, often lovingly tormenting his kids with visits to historic sites. Even so, he also loved the adventure of amusement parks and rollercoasters! He enjoyed traveling to Florida and his favorite place -San Francisco. David was known to be quite frugal when it came to his own needs but incredibly generous when it came to others. He had great affection for his “coffee club” and fellow mall-walkers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, David John Jones and Martha Clough Jones; brother, Jack Fries; sisters, Virginia Smith and Judy Jones; and son-in-law, James Bunk.

Left to cherish memories of David are his wife, Roberta Jones; sister, Barbara Vitale; children, Donna Bunk, David E. Jones (Debra), and Stacey Boone (Vence); grandchildren, James Bunk, David L. Jones, Christie Johnson, Stephanie Adames, and Haley Boone; great-grandchildren, Adrianna Johnson, Emmanuel Adames, Avianna Johnson, Nicolas Adames, Jonathon Johnson, Julian Johnson, and Rosa Adames; as well as many other extended family members and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at Renaissance Funeral Home in Raleigh, NC on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. The family will receive guests from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. and the service will begin promptly at 3:00 p.m.
