Obituary For Cynthia Lee Nachel

Cynthia Lee Nachel, nÃ©e Stock, 65 of Raleigh, died May 20, 2016 at home. Cyndie was born to Emmett A. Stock and Inez L. Stock, nÃ©e Hess in Woodstock, IL. She graduated from Woodstock High School in 1968. She worked as a CNA & Clinical Instructor for Sunset Manor in 1976-1985. She graduated from First Institute in Crystal Lake in 2007. She worked for 4 years as a door greeter & product presenter at Sam's Club in both Crystal Lake, IL and Morrisville, NC. She was also an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since 1975. She was a friend to all she met and she truly loved everyone. She enjoyed meeting people from around the world and learning about their cultures. She loved reading and learning and had been studying Spanish and French at the time of her death.

Cyndie was preceded in death by her father and mother.

She is survived by her former husband, Edward A. Nachel of McHenry, IL, daughter, Jessica A. DeVries of Raleigh, NC, daughter, Shelly M Brown (Trevor) of Springville, UT, Grandson, Ian DeVries, Granddaughter, Hannah DeVries, Grandson Liam Brown, Granddaughter Maisie Brown and Grandsons Aedric and Harold Brown.

What a beautiful story, Ed. And what a wonderful memories. As a member of the Cavern Club, I share so many of those memories. We all drifted apart after high school graduation, except for Cyndie, DeeJay and me. We stayed in touch all these years. Thank God. And I thank God for putting her in my life. Debi "Sam" Emerson

Debi Emerson

Cyndie & I met way back in 1961 She had just turned 11 & would turn 11 3 months to the day later. We were entering 6th grade at Olson Jr. High School. We came from different grade school, so it was all new to both of us. We clicked & became life long friends. She is 1 of 2 childhood friends I never lost touch with. We were both only children so decided to become "sisters-of-choice". She was very much the sister God forgot to give me. I've loved her most of my life & will love her forever deep in my heart until we meet again at God's side. Sweet dreams, my dearest Sister.

Ed Nachel

Cyndie and I first met around 1966 in the basement of a mutual friend (Ginny Coons). The basement area was in an old house at the end of Putman St. in Woodstock IL (it's still there). The basement was made of stones and resembled a cave of sorts, so we called ourselves the "Cavern Clan". The group was comprised of about 15-20 young people of late high school and college age. We did all sorts of things together such as picnics and bands (several people belonged to a rock band). We had great fun together and became very good friends. I remember, Cyndie was going with Van Vogel at the time and they had a few rough patches and I would step in whenever possible. We dated off and on throughout my college time, but really became serious after I had joined the Navy. The group made a trip down to White Pines Park in Oregon IL (one of our favorite hangout areas). A mutual friend known as DJ talked me in to going, even though I knew Cyndie would be there.....we had split up sometime earlier, and I was reluctant to go for that reason, but DJ was insistent so I went. I basically ignored Cyndie the whole time until the ride home when she sat next to me in the van and started talking. We hit it off pretty well and started dating again. About a year or so later, we got engaged and finally married on January 31st, 1970. Little did I know that DJ had set the whole thing up for Cyndie, which I found out later. By that time it was too late, but I did not mind. I had always had a soft spot for Cyndie. She kind of had that effect on people and we spent 37 years together which also brought us 2 terrific daughters. I will always remember the good times and will definitely miss her for the rest of my life. Thank you, Cyndie, for sticking by me for so long. You are loved very much. With love, Ed
