Obituary For Curtis Wright
Rev. Curtis A. Wright left this life on June 19th 2015. He was born on August 8th 1954 in Washington, D.C. to Clarence and Florence (Nagel) Wright. He graduated from Herndon High School, the University of Virginia, and received his Masters in Divinity at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Va. After that he moved to North Carolina with his family to serve at several small churches. He would also, in time, become a teacher, a bus driver, an EMT, and a computer programmer. Throughout all of this a love of music permeated his life. From learning instruments like the clarinet, piano, and guitar, playing in The Award-Winning Virginia Fighting Cavalier Indoor/Outdoor Precision(?) Marching Pep Band, & Chowder Society Review, Unlimited!!!, joining the chorus at the Craven Community College, participating in musicals at the New Bern Civic Theater, and indulging in his passion for beach music and karaoke.
He was a tinkerer, a gardener, a cat fancier, a singer, a dancer, a healer, a preacher, a pizza chef, a handyman, an actor, a helper, a computer lover, a trekkie, a fisher, a son, a brother, and a father.
He was predeceased by his parents and by his brother John Wright.
He is survived by his only son Timothy Wright and wife, Stacey; his grandsons: James Wright and David Wright of Chapel Hill, NC; his brother, Douglas Wright and wife, Leslie, of Greensboro, NC; his sister-in-law, Kim Wright, of Greensboro, NC; and mother of his son, Maggie Wright, of New Bern, NC, along with many extended members of the Wright and Nagel families.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate in Curtis' name to the Southern Poverty Law Center, the NAACP, the Sierra Club, or your local food bank.
Curtis will be laid to rest at the Pine Forest Memorial Garden in Wake Forest, NC. A memorial service will be held on October 9th at 11am at the Renaissance Funeral Home in Raleigh, NC and is open to all who wish to attend.
