Obituary For Courtney Lynn Farrington

Courtney Lynn Farrington (Williams) passed away on November 26, 2024, after a several-year battle with health problems. She is the loving and adored wife of David L. Farrington, whom she married on August 7, 1986, in Cape May, NJ. The date was chosen because August 7th was her mother Mary’s birthday. She is survived by her stepdaughters, Amber and Elin Farrington of Colorado; her brothers, Don (Joanie) and Billy; his daughter, Mary Beth Hodgens (Chris); and niece Savannah and nephew Will. Lynn, as Courtney liked to be called at home in NJ, was predeceased by her brother Richard, who, with his wife Kitty, has children Richard (Heather), Lynn Arnold (Todd), and Donna Dee Brown (Doug) and their children, all of whom are from and still reside in southern NJ.

Courtney was a truly beautiful, loving person and wife who cared deeply about her health. She was devastated when her physical disabilities prevented her from continuing her passions for running, tennis, and both surf and fly fishing (though she made sure no fish were caught or harmed).

Courtney and David lived for a number of years in McLean, VA, before moving to their current home in Raleigh, NC, in 1994. Courtney loved NC and enjoyed all of it, from Raleigh to the coast near Wilmington to the mountains in the western part of the state. For a few years, they had a vacation home in the mountains outside of Boone, where Courtney especially loved to be in the fall.

One of Courtney’s passions was animals and creatures, no matter how small. She would open a window to let a bug make it back outdoors or have David capture one and release it outside. For most of her life, Courtney owned cats—sometimes several at once. She loved and cared for them like they were her children.

At this time, no service is planned.

“Some people come into our lives and quietly go. Others stay for a while, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never the same.”
