Obituary For Christel Brooks

Christel Brooks, 78, was born and raised in Germany where she met her husband Johnny Lowell Brooks of 59 years who was a US Soldier. She came to the US to live a few years later where she became a US Citizen. Together they raised 3 children. She always said that was her most important job! She also became a retail manager for Burlington Brands largest clothing store.

She always had a crochet hook in her hand crocheting a blanket or scarf for family and friends. You always knew when she entered a room because she sparkled with her personality plus her bling clothes. She never met a stranger and by the time you left you were her friend. She loved Sunday mornings when you would find her on the left side in the second row in Church. If someone didn’t know that was her spot, she would kindly let you know.

She has left behind her husband Johnny Lowell Brooks Sr. and 3 children Manny Joseph Brooks (Kris), Katherine Delaine Chorba (Tim), Johnny Lowell
Brooks,Jr. (Susie); 7 Grandchildren - Kenny Ray Brooks, Ashley Marie Chorba, Brent Joseph Brooks, Jessica Katherine Chorba, Chelsea Nicole Poole, Presley Lowell Brooks, Spencer Eugene Brooks; 7 Great Grandchildren - Lane Ray Brooks, Madyson Paige Brooks, Ty Joseph Brooks, Ella Rae Brooks, Oliver Jackson Arcentales, Isabella Michelle Gracie Baker, and Elaina Presley Rose Poole.

Services will be held at Renaissance Funeral Home 7615 Six Forks Road Raleigh, NC 27615 on Monday January 29th at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers you may donate to her favorite charity Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of our dear friend and associate Christel. Our friendship extends back to the early 1980's when we worked together at the second Burlington Brands Store in Morrisville NC. After a brief stopover in Boaz Al, Christel agreed to open and manage our largest and most successful store in Las Vegas NV. Christel mentored, trained and endured herself, to so many of her employees there that will never forget her. She performed at the highest level until her retirement. She truly was THE GOAT.
