Obituary For Cheryl Elizabeth Jordan

Cheryl (Jones) Jordan of Fitchburg, died November 6, 2011, after a long battle with cancer.

Cheryl was born September 3, 1944, in Richmond, Virginia, to Taylor E. Jones and Agnes (Holloway) Jones. She spent her childhood in Elizabeth City, N.C., and graduated from Elizabeth City High School. After a few years at Talladega College, she moved to Boston, graduating from Boston State College in 1973. She went on to earn a masters degree.

Cheryl had a great love of learning. She taught middle school in the Boston Public Schools, GED Prep for adults, and English as a Second Language to adult learners.

Mrs. Jordan was also a devout Catholic. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church in Gardner, and Madonna of the Holy Rosary Church is Fitchburg. She was a member of the Secular Franciscan order. She also served her church community by being a lector and a Eucharistic minster and by teaching religious education.

She leaves behind three daughters; Bernice Harrington, Emily Jordan, Agnes Jordan; three brothers, Taylor Jones, Peter Jones, and John Jones, and one sister, Clarissa Jones; her husband James Jordan, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
