Obituary For Charles Pfost

Charles "Butch" Pfost of Raleigh, NC and formerly of Manassas, VA and South Charleston, WV passed away on December 29, 2011 at the age of 71. Butch grew to love the game of golf as a caddy at Kanawha Country Club in West Virginia and continued to play as much as he could as recently as late this past summer. There was no truer Washington Redskins fan than Butch. He was retired, after 30 years of service, from American Airlines. Butch worked at both Washington National Airport and Dulles Airport in Virginia before transferring to Raleigh/Durham. He is survived by his loving wife Joyce Metten Pfost, son Scott Pfost and wife Kathleen and their children Ashley, Alex and Evan; daughter Cathy Beck and husband Tim and their children Timothy, his wife Olivia, Adam, and Jessica; son Dean Burdette and wife Andrea and son Caden; daughter Vicki Mumma, fianc�© Greg Slye and sons Jacob and Mitchell; son Shawn Pfost and wife Sherry and children Amanda and Brandon; daughter Jodi Ross and her daughters Brooke and Peyton and their father Mark Ross. He is also survived by Brothers Hank and sister in law Betty of Kentucky, John Pfost of California, Gary of West Virginia, sister Sherry of Florida, Brother and sister in law Eddie and Debbie Metten, and sister in law Connie Metten Burford all of West Virginia, and many nieces and nephews. Butch also leaves his cherished friends from the Raleigh Elks Lodge and his loving neighbors of Landover Subdivision. He was predeceased by his first wife Rita Melton Pfost, his mother Myrtle Adkins Pfost, and father John Leo Pfost, and brother Terry. A memorial service will be held at Raleigh Elks Lodge, 5538 Lead Mine Road, Raleigh, NC at 2:00pm on Tuesday, January 3, 2012. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Butch's memory to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital or Duke University Hospital Cardiac Unit.

    I am so sorry for your GREAT loss. I will always remember the fun times I had with Cathy, MOM and POP when we were in High School...
