Obituary For Charles Normand Daigneault

Charles N. Daigneault, 97, of Raleigh, NC, formerly of Woodcliff Lake, NJ, passed away at home on March 2, 2022, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Worcester, MA, on November 19, 1924, son of the late Arthur and Angelina Daigneault (née Bombardier).

Charles “Charlie” was a graduate of St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury, MA. Upon graduating high school in 1943, he was drafted into the United States Navy during WWII and accepted into the V-12 College Training Program. He began his college career at the University of Kansas where he walked onto the college football team having not competed in high school. After his freshman year, the Navy transferred him to the University of Colorado in Boulder where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and later completed his Master’s in Business. Charlie was an accomplished sales and marketing executive who worked at Westinghouse for 22 years and Motorola for 2 years before embarking on a rewarding and successful 16.5-year career at Sharp Electronics. There he revolutionized the sale of turntable microwave ovens to make Sharp the #1 brand of microwave ovens in the United States. His leadership as Executive Vice President of the Consumer Electronics Group grew Sharp to a multi-billion-dollar company.

Charlie was a devout Catholic and parishioner at Our Lady Mother of the Church in Woodcliff Lake, NJ, for over 40 years. He humbly dedicated his life to God and his whole family, immediate and extended. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed reading in an endless pursuit of knowledge. He loved life and lived every day in gratitude for the many blessings God bestowed upon him. He touched countless lives transcending generations with his generosity, positivity, and joy.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and by his four siblings Jeanne (Leo) Dennis, Marcellaise (John Paul) Brodeur, Robert (Mary and Florence) Daigneault, and Therese (Roger) Desaulniers.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Suzanne (née Bilodeau); his son Michael (Alessandra) Daigneault of Herndon, VA; his three daughters Noëlle Daigneault (Matthew Jennings), Gisèle (Frank) Manole, and Justine (Steven) Walters of Raleigh, NC; his six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I remember you all so well from when you came to our office for pediatric care. I loved watching the girls grow up and become fine young women. I often pass your former home in Woodcliff Lake and wonder how every one is. Know that I will keep Charles and all of you in my prayers. With sadness, Marta (Marty) Dixon, Ridgewood, NJ.
