C. Edward Burns , 93, formerly of Bristol, RI, died at Transitions Life Care of Wake County in Raleigh, NC, on Wednesday, February 11, 2015. He was born on August 18, 1921 in Providence, RI, to Charles E. and Katharine (Paull) Burns.

Ed was a veteran of World War II serving on PT boats in the South Pacific from the Solomon Islands to Okinawa. Ed was also a veteran of the Korean War serving on a Destroyer. Ed worked as a Service Engineer for Hyster Co for 34 years before retiring in 1986.

Ed is survived by his wife of 60 years Helen (Mayowitz) Burns, his son Richard and daughter – in-law Camilla Burns, and his granddaughters Kiley and Ryan Burns, all of Raleigh, NC. Ed was preceded in death by his brother Steve Burns and his sister and her husband, Mary and John Mack.

A funeral service will be held at Renaissance Funeral Home in Raleigh, NC, at 1:30 am on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 with a graveside service to follow at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens in Wake Forest.
