Obituary For Catherine Parrott Taylor

Catherine Parrott Taylor of Raleigh died on March 16, 2013 following a courageous battle with ALS. The only child of the late Benjamin Hubert Parrott and Clara Pickles Parrott, Catherine was born in Kinston, NC. She was educated in the Kinston City Schools and graduated with honors from Grainger High School. She furthered her education at Greensboro College and East Carolina University. Catherine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed working with young children and was an aide at Hudson Memorial, St. Andrews Preschool and Lynn Road Elementary School. For over 20 years, Catherine was in direct sales with The Longaberger Company selling handcrafted baskets and pottery. She retired as a Regional Advisor in 2003. Prior to her diagnosis of ALS, Catherine divided her time between Raleigh and their home on the Bay River in Pamlico County, NC. She was active in the Vandemere United Methodist Church and enjoyed the peaceful lifestyle and beauty of the area with her family, friends, and neighbors. Her love of animals contributed to her passion for finding homes for dogs and cats in need. Catherine is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Edward (Eddie) L. Taylor, who was her high school sweetheart; a son, Gregory, and his wife, Wendy, of Wendell and a daughter Patricia and her husband, Kirk Wagner, of Raleigh, a granddaughter, Elli Wagner, and a step grandson, Ryan Byrd, of Mebane. The family would like to thank Hospice of Wake County for its compassionate care, and to Catherineââ?¬â?¢s special care givers, Angela, Jessica, Karen and Lisa. The support and prayers of our friends is deeply appreciated. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, March 19th, at the Renaissance Funeral Home in Raleigh located at 7615 Six Forks Road. The Rev. Rex Horne will be officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. The family suggests that memorials may be made to Hospice of Wake County at 250 Hospice Circle Raleigh, NC 27607, The Wake County chapter of The Jim ââ?¬Å?Catfishââ?¬Â? Hunter Chapter of the ALS Association at 4 N. Blount Street, Raleigh, NC 27601, or to Vandemere United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 421 Vandemere, NC 28587.

I was deeply saddened to hear about Catherine's passing. I have known Catherine for many years. I worked for her parents in Kinston for many, many years. I also kept Greg and Patty when they were babies. I have only fond, loving memories of Catherine. I remember when Eddie and Catherine first got married, so many years ago. Catherine would always send a card on my birthday and at Christmas time. I will miss hearing from her. Eddie, Greg, and Patty, please know that I will keep all of you in my prayers. Ellen

I would like to extend my sincere sympathy to Eddie and family. I had the pleasure of visiting with Catherine and Eddie with their friends Kay and Charlie on several occasions on their beautiful Bay River. Those are wonderful memories...I was even there at least once on New Year's Eve and experienced Catherine's elegant decorating and hospitality. I knew Catherine trusted me when she would let me spend time with her beloved "Sandy." She was so gracious and positive. I never heard her speak negative or ill of anyone. Her calm and beautiful spirit seemed paralleled with the beauty and quiet of their river setting. Surly Heaven has gained a "jewel." Your hearts are so saddened but with time God's love and comfort will ease your sorrow and the beautiful memories will become so clear and meaningul. If only each of us could accomplish so much in our lives as this lovely lady did. Sincerely, Pat Godwin

Dear Taylor family,my heart is broken in learning of Catherine's passing. She was a dear friend and mentor in Longaberger. We met in Raleigh and when I moved to Kernersville, she introduced me to Jill Gordon another consultant and our friendship grew. She was so patient, giving, loving and talked so often of her family, especially Eddie. I will be remembering you as you walk through these dark days. She is smiling on us now as she has a new life. I will miss her!
