Obituary For Brian Vincent Larson

**In lieu of flowers, the following account has been set up for his wife and daughter: https://www.gofundme.com/brian-larson

Brian Vincent Larson, of Raleigh, passed away on Saturday, January 21, at UNC Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mara (Dorsch) Larson and their daughter, Hazel; parents Vincent and Helvi Larson, sister Beth (Scott), nephews Andrew and Hudson, niece Kylie and numerous family members from the Larson, Karro, Dorsch and McCall families.

Brian graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School and Cardinal Gibbons High School. He attended Western Carolina University. He loved working with his best and oldest friend, Peter Ruocchio, at Ruocchio Designs where he was the business manager. Brian and Peter made a great team and throughout their hard work shared many silly stories and jokes. The ‘boys’ were always up to something funny. Their friendship is a true testament of loyalty and how much they valued each other.

Brian’s love of boating began at an early age. His first boat ride was with his parents when he was only 5 months old. He loved boating at Falls or Kerr Lakes, and especially at Pine Knoll Shores. He could look at any boat and with a quick glance tell you the kind of boat and make and size of its engine. Spending time on the water was where he felt closest to God.

He was a quiet but very intelligent, compassionate and funny man who was loved completely by his family and friends. Our lives are fuller because we got to walk this life with him. He valued loyalty and never gave up on people. He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Lourdes.

Brian was a devoted husband and father. Being together as “Team Larson” with Mara and Hazel brought him the greatest joy. He was patient, funny and so caring to us. Our gentle giant.

A memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Raleigh on Friday, January 27. Family visitation at church will begin at 10 followed by Mass at 11. There will be a reception in the Fallon Center immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to https://www.gofundme.com/brian-larson This fund has been set up for his wife and daughter.

What a wonderful time we had with Brian, Mara, and Little Hazel the week after Christmas in 2014. We had met Brian one time and this was our second time with him. He was so thoughtful, gentle and caring of Mara and Hazel. We visited the IMAX and the attached play and siciene areas, ate seafood, visited the Jesuit Volunteer house, and just enjoyed hanging out with the family. We are devastated at his passing and are praying for Mara and our little girl daily. We know he is in the arms of Jesus now and has no more pain. With much love, Mike and "Big" Hazel Breland, Mobile, AL.

Dear Mr. Vince, Mrs. Helvi, Beth, Peter and Brian's family I have not met, I was just devastated to hear about the loss of your Brian. I have the fondest memories of hanging out with Brian, Pete and Beth at Pine Knoll Shores. Brian was so funny in a quiet way and I liked him so much. I remember Beth and I teasing him until we could get a smile out of him (I think he held on to them on purpose:)). Life is beautiful and brutal. This world was a better place with Brian in it. I am tremendously sorry for his wife and sweet daughter. Please know you all are being held close in my heart and that I will always remember your sweet boy when we were both awkward teens. Bless you all. Bless Brian. I am so thankful for his life. With much love, Stacy (Rogers) Ward

Brian was my piano student when he and his family were our neighbors many years ago on Kershaw Drive in Raleigh. I enjoyed working with him because he was always very polite and lots of fun to know. When the family moved away, I really missed both him and his sister Beth. It was such a shock to read about him in today's newspaper. Please know that my husband Bill and I want all of the family to know that we will keep you in our prayers. Brian made many people happy during his life and we are honored to have been given the joy of knowing not only him but Helvi, Vince and Beth as well. We love all of you. Margaret Anne Smith.
