Mrs. Betty Jean Ebanks, 87, of New York, NY, peacefully passed away on Thursday, 20 June 2024. She was the daughter of the late John Cody and Anna Yasko. Betty was born 17 May 1937 in New York NY. She attended the public schools of NYC and obtained her bachelor’s degree from Ramapo College in NJ.

She was united in matrimony to Charles Lindburgh Ebanks. This union was blessed with 2 children. Charles and Betty raised their family in Teaneck, NJ. Charles preceded her in death in 1996.

Betty lived a long and happy life. She spent her single years living and working in NYC. Betty loved cats and her home in Teaneck always had a least one resident cat. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, she loved all kinds of music and she loved the beach.

She was preceded in death by her grandson Max; her sister, Rosemarie and her brothers John, Edward and Johnny.

Her life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Karen (Richard) Lucas of Raleigh, NC and Julie (Daniel) Hager of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Anna, Charles and Benjamin; sisters, Dorothy and Barbara; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, 28 June 2024, at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27615.
