Obituary For Barbara "Barbie" C. Dixon

Barbara “Barbie” Callahan Dixon of Raleigh, NC died unexpectedly on July 28 from heart failure at age 54. She was born September 9, 1964 in Millville, NJ. She was the daughter of Barbara and George Callahan who preceded her in death. She attended Millville Senior High School and graduated from Elon University in 1987 where she was a member of the Phi Mu sorority.

She is survived by her loving sisters Georgia Callahan and Patricia Callahan, by her niece Julia Jackson, and nephew Benjamin Jackson and by her devoted second family, Bobbie Shaffett, nephew Benjamin Shaffett, Susan Dixon, Verna and William Fletcher and nephews, Hayes and Luke Fletcher. She was married to the love of her life, Vernon L. Dixon, Jr. on April 23, 2011. Vernon preceded her in death on May 2, 2019. Barbie was a highly accomplished sales professional in both the medical and aesthetic fields who was well-respected by colleagues and competitors alike. Through dedication and hard work, she built strong customer relationships and consistently exceeded goals. She had multiple national awards to her credit including the President’s Award from Galderma Laboratories where she worked as a Senior Dermatological Sales Professional.

Evidenced by the incredible outpouring of love, Barbie was one of a kind. Her bright smile lit up any room she entered. Barbie had a magical way of putting others first and her kind, giving heart allowed her to love unconditionally. She was happiest playing with her dogs - Sport and Lily, walking on the beach, cooking with her friends, listening to the music of John Mayer and remembering the wonderful love she shared with Vernon. Barbie was selfless and cared deeply about those she loved. She had a unique sense of humor that brought joy and laughter to those privileged to share her world. She always managed to have a positive outlook on life and inspired her friends and family to do the same. Barbie believed she was destined for a new life where she planned to assist other women in need. That life was sadly cut short and now she rests with her beloved Vernon.

I didn't know Barbie well but we were in the same industry for awhile. I , like many reps stood next to her at many events. I always thought she was such a beautiful, classy and elegant lady who worked hard, seemed honest and kind. I hope she knew she was admired. It is a definite loss for her to pass so young. Wishing her and her family and friends much peace.

So Thankful our paths crossed recently and I was able to share with you my conversation with Vernon shortly after you two met. He Loved you so much. You truly were Soul Mates and I believe with all my Heart that he was there to greet you on the other side. It was an honor to assist you both in purchasing your home in Wakefield and I am grateful for the Years you shared together there. I only wish there could have been a million more Happy Days. The World is less Bright today without Vernon & Barbie. Peace, Strength and Blessings to all who Love Barbie and Vernon.
