Obituary For Antonio "Tony" E. Jardim

Antonio (Tony) Eusebio Jardim, 91, of Wake Forest, NC, passed away peacefully on 2 October 2022. He was born in Madeira, Portugal, on 14 August 1931, the son of the late Antonio and Maria Jardim.

Tony was the devoted husband of Mecia Jardim for 50 years. Throughout their marriage they travelled extensively, sharing adventures and building a lifetime of memories. Their favorite destination was, of course, the island of Madeira where both were raised.

Family and friends loved to hear Tony tell amazing stories from his incredible past. He was truly a citizen of the world, having lived in Portugal, Brazil, and Curacao, as well as, Connecticut and North Carolina. Tough and fearless as much as he was kind and warm hearted, Tony was part of a vanishing generation that could build or fix anything.

An avid soccer fan, Tony could often be found watching his favorite team, SL Benfica. Tony also loved working on his house and cars, growing vegetables, fishing, raising chickens and rabbits, and sharing snacks with his beloved dog Machico. Above all, he loved spending time with family, his grandchildren bringing Tony his greatest joy.

Antonio was preceded in death by both his parents; his brothers, Manuel, Diniz, and Germano; by his brothers-in-law Arnaldo Camara and Jose Jardim; and by far too many others dear to our hearts.

Tony is survived by his spouse, Mecia; his daughter Maria (Kevin) Perveiler of Raleigh, NC; his son, Orlando (Marina) Ribeiro of Claremont, FL; grandchildren, Ashley Perveiler of Raleigh, NC, Vaughn (Erin) Perveiler of Philadelphia, PA, Nicole Ribeiro of Claremont, FL, and Francesca (Dino) Lackey of Lake Mary, FL; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Maria (Higino) Ferreira, Mecia Camara, and Celeste Jardim; and by dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, October 7th, 2022 at 11am at Renaissance Funeral Home. Family and friends are welcome to a gathering with refreshments immediately after the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Antonio to: Alzheimer’s Association.
