Obituary For Anjali Bhattacharyya
Anjali Bhattacharyya died in her home in Cary, NC on November 24, 2022, after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Anjali earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Anthropology from SUNY Buffalo. Subsequently, she taught at Cleveland State University, John Carroll University, and Antioch College. Later, Anjali worked in the private sector and as a consultant prior to retirement.
Anjali was a prolific writer, publishing several books of poetry. She was also a talented and creative cook, and gifted at sewing and embroidery.
She is predeceased by her husband Aniruddha Bhattacharyya and survived by her brothers Bikash Ranjan Majumder (Krishna) and Biswa Ranjan Majumder (Anusri), sister Aparna P. Kumar (Prabhat), daughters Abanti Bhattacharyya (Mark) and Ujjaini Sorey, grandchildren Griha Singla (Matt) and Akheil Singla (Meagan), two great-grandchildren Ashok and Kamal, and numerous nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made in Anjali’s name to the American Cancer Society.
