Obituary For Alice Irene Halloran
Alice I. Lasater Halloran, aged 85, died peacefully on August 5, 2015 in her own bed in Raleigh, North Carolina after a long struggle with heart disease. Alice was born May 9, 1930 in Charleston Arkansas, the daughter of Henry “Tom” Lasater and Francis “Fannie” Arwood Lasater. She is predeceased by siblings Woodrow (Opal) Lasater; Marjorie (Garland) Burton, Imogene (Pete) Robertson and Clinta (Chester) Blaylock.
After graduating Charleston High School in 1948, Alice attended Sparks Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Smith Arkansas and received her Registered Nurse degree in 1953. Her professional career included positions at Boston Eye and Ear, Boston General Hospital, Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, Holmdel Convalescent Center and Marlboro State Psychiatric Hospital in New Jersey.
Alice married Robert K. Halloran Jr. in 1953 while he was stationed at Fort Chaffee Arkansas. Alice and Bob moved first to Boston then to Washington Heights in New York City and finally to Hazlet New Jersey where the couple raised three children. She lived in the same house from 1966-2013. She remained married 49 years until Robert's passing in 2002. In her youth, Alice played basketball and was very proud of her high school team’s winning record. While living in Hazlet for 47 years, Alice became an active member of Saint Benedict’s Church in Holmdel NJ and a supported of the Knights of Columbus in Matawan NJ.
Alice is survived by three children Robert Kenneth (Sharon Kathryn) Halloran III, Alicia Ann “Betsy”(Martin) Nossov, and Regina Marie (Robert ) Kolodziej; seven grandchildren Teresa Halloran Hughes,Deirdre Bridget Halloran, Caitlin Alice Halloran, Jack Thomas Kolodziej, Daniel Robert Kolodziej, Elise Marie Nossov and Maya Phoebe Xiaya Nossov. She was well loved by many nieces nephews cousins and extended family.
There will be a Funeral Mass at 1:00 on Monday August 10. 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Raleigh, North Carolina. There will be a one hour visitation prior to the mass. She will be buried at St. Joseph Cemetery in Keyport New Jersey.
