Al graduated from Evander Childs High school at the age of 15 and enrolled at CCNY where he earned a Baccalaureate in Chemical Engineering. While in college he met the love of his life Ruth Reiter. Upon graduation he was drafted into the US Army and received further academic training at Ohio State University. Ruth and he married in Ohio. After the war Ruth and he devoted themselves to cherishing and rearing their five children Michael (Delight), Roy (Ann), Lee (Deb), Jeanne (Jerry), and Lisa (Tom). Al pioneered in the management of vinyl calendering operations. In addition to taking pride in his children and grandchildren, Indra (Josh), Josh (Hansi), Rachel, Adrian, Naomi, and Michael, and his great-grandchild Ada, Al enjoyed photography, aquaria, the harmonica, his Citroen and sharing his love for Ruth who passed away in 1997 after being well-cared for during her long illness.
Al died quietly in his sleep on May 20, 2016 after a brief illness. He always found unique, inventive ways to do things and hoped to be remembered as a kind man.
