Ronald Wayne Massey
Ronald Wayne Massey, 77, of Raleigh, NC passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 4, 2025.
Ron was born March 18,1948, in Henderson, NC, the son of Reverend Ralph Massey and Christine Massey (née Murray). He graduated from Middlesex High School in 1966, and then went on to Louisburg College where he completed his degree.
Ron married his wife Janet in the middle of a snow storm on January 23, 2000, at Mount Bethel, the church his father co-founded and where they first met, and enjoyed 25 years of loving companionship and deep shared faith. He and Janet ended each evening holding hands and watching videos of their grand dog Greta.
Ron worked in sales at Hughes Supply in Durham, NC for 30 years, earning the respect of colleagues and clients in Wake county and beyond. He enjoyed golf and other sports, such as pitching for his church softball team. He had a wonderful sense of humor, laced with Southern charm and quick wit, and had excellent taste in that he was a devoted Carolina fan.
Remaining to cherish Ron’s memory are his wife Janet Massey; his daughters, Heather Harris and Krista Potter; grandchildren, Gianna and Camden; and his brothers, Phillip, Larry and Marty Massey. Preceding Ron in death was his sister, Judy Stephenson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 14 at 3pm at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC. Memorial donations in Ron’s memory may be directed to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Online condolences may be shared HERE.

Ron was my favorite neighbor I ever had was always kind caring and compassionate and always had time to listen to me. He always made me feel important and always made me feel heard it truly he was one-of-a-kind and will be greatly missed.

I'm so sorry to learn of Ronnie's passing but I know loved ones were there to welcome him home. Ronnie always had a smile and a kind word for all. He was a childhood friend to many of us who attended Mt. Bethel growing up whose friendship endured through the years. Special prayers for Ronnie's family and friends. May loving memories, today and always, bring you peace, comfort and strength.

Ronnie kept the faith and fought a good fight! He is in the presence of the Lord now. He's got a brand-new body with no more pain. He is gone, but not forgotten...we who believe, will see him again. Much Love and prayers to family and friends.
