Obituary For Nancy Lou Angerole

Nancy Lou Angerole, 88, passed away on March 25, 2025, in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Born on March 31, 1936, Nancy grew up in Ocean Grove, New Jersey, and lived for many years in Wall Township, New Jersey before moving to Raleigh, North Carolina, in 2016. She graduated from Trenton State College with a degree in education and dedicated her career to teaching. She worked at numerous schools in the Wall Township School District including West Belmar Elementary School and Wall Intermediate School and also contributed to the Manasquan School District’s after-school program. She also served as a church custodian for many years.

Nancy was deeply involved in her community through various volunteer roles. She was a Brownie and Cub Scouts troop leader, a soccer coach for the Wall Youth Soccer Program, and a board member and first female President for South Wall Little League. She also volunteered at the Manasquan Library’s children's program. After she retired from teaching, she spent many years volunteering for the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey Thrift & Consignment Shop. She enjoyed her time at the thrift store and made many close friends during her time there.

Nancy accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at age 13 at a church service at the Ocean Grove Auditorium. Perhaps her most cherished time was spent with her church families at both the Manasquan and Wall United Methodist churches. A devoted member of both churches, she could always be counted upon to serve on numerous committees and teach Sunday School. If there was an activity going on at church, she would often be the first one there, making sure the lights were on and the last one turning the lights off after everyone left. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and for many years spent hours each month writing the church newsletter.

She throughly enjoyed her time living on the Jersey Shore and especially liked spending time visiting the Ocean Grove Auditorium and watching boats at the Manasquan inlet. Nancy was a big sports fan and loved to watch all the March Madness games as well as Penn State football. She never missed the Little League World Series and had fond memories of the year she traveled to Williamsport to see the series in person. A passionate reader, she encouraged children to develop a love for books. She had a deep affection for dogs, including her beloved grand-dogs Luna and Gracie. Nancy enjoyed traveling and often reminisced about her time as an exchange student in Switzerland.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Angerole. She is survived by her children, Jim Angerole (Julie) of Raleigh, NC, Tom Angerole of Raleigh, NC, and Beth Leney (Derek) of Bloomington, IN; as well as her grandchildren, Megan Angerole (19), Lauren Angerole (18), and Joshua Leney (16) and half sister, Susan Roush (Kris).

A service and reception will be held for Nancy in June in New Jersey. Details will be released as plans are finalized.

Jim - may the God of all comfort comfort you and your family. Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him Stephen
