Obituary For Cathryn Ann Rinn

Cathryn Ann Rinn, Cathy, age 93, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at her home in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Born in Sommerville, MA on April 25, 1928 to Mary and John Mac Dougall, growing up with her 2 brothers, Jack and Joe Mac Dougall, she graduated from Watertown High School and had an early career with the telephone company.

She met her husband Robert (Bob) Rinn on a blind date and they married on October 11, 1952. Married for 67 years, Bob’s engineering career took them to homes in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Ohio, Michigan and North Carolina. Cathy couldn’t have been more proud of her 4 daughters, Judy Bodnar(John), Donna Neville, Marybeth Blades (Bill) and Kathleen Duguid (John).

An active member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Cathy was a lay Eucharistic minister among other volunteer positions. She loved to entertain, play bridge and all games, travel, watch sports, and especially dance. Cathy and Bob enjoyed many fun years square dancing. She genuinely loved people and her kindness, charm and sense of humor endeared her to family and friends, old and new.

Preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents and brothers, she leaves behind her daughters, 8 grandchildren, Ellen (Jed), Laura (Nick), Lillian (Adam), Conant, William, Kiley, Jamie and Sarah; 2 great grandchildren Evelyn and Ethan; sister-in-law, Maryclaire; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many friends.

The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by the hospice care team Joya and Christa, as well as by Aware Care and her favorite aide, Blanca.

The Memorial Mass for Cathy and Bob will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 12333 Bayleaf Church Rd, Raleigh, NC, 11:00 am, Saturday, November 13, 2021. Reception at the church to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Transitions Lifecare Hospice.
